Bert Fontcuberta, is a St. Tammany native and lifelong resident he has lived on Bootlegger Road for the past 24 years with his Wife Virginia, married 33 years, they have two daughters and four grandchildren. Owns and operates MapMan, LLC and New Orleans Map Company, one of the very few firms in existence providing up-to-date Street Maps of Southeast Louisiana. Bert has extensive background in the Surveying and Mapping field and was responsible for the mapping and inventory of the entire Water and Sewer system in Western St. Tammany Parish which was acquired by the Parish in 2009. Custom maps he creates also assist emergency responders daily in addition to serving as backdrops for movie sets, most recent series NCIS New Orleans. Bert has served over 10 years volunteering as a Reserve with the St. Tammany Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol Division and the Covington Police Department even serving as a Junior Reserve at age 13 at Mandeville P.D.; As a Captain and Commander of 25 Reservists at the Covington P.D., Bert enlisted the same hard work and dedication as an entrepreneur in recruiting, training, and providing security details for Covington's public events. In his efforts to prepare Reservists for full-time careers in law enforcement, Bert's leadership skills caught the attention of Reservists throughout the state and consequently Bert was elected President of the Louisiana Association of Reserve Peace Officers. In an effort to preserve St. Tammany's quality of life and historical integrity, Bert organized the West St. Tammany Preservation Alliance. In his work with contractors and developers, Bert acts as a spokesperson for area residents and effectively communicates their needs in a language the builders can understand. Negotiations in the early stages of development prevent future problems and a unified voice has resulted in positive improvements for the community. The WSTPA also serves as an incubator to establish new homeowner’s and Civic Associations. Bert currently serves as Vice Chairman of St. Tammany Fire Protection District 13 Board of Commissioners. His extensive background in Public Safety, civic leadership, vision with insight to future construction and Business combined form Professionalism much needed to keep the District on track for the ever changing population explosion currently being experienced in Western St. Tammany Parish. Bert’s hobbies are wood working/restoring, historical on-site research, farming & camping.
